Frame-Off complete restoration / overhaul of a LAND ROVER 88
Series 2 to the highest standard.
The Series 2 was built from April 1958 to summer 1971,
divided into Series 2 from 1958-1961 and Series 2a from 1961-1971 as the
successor to Series 1.
In many details, the Series 2 was improved. A 2.25 ltr.
engine replaced the 2.0 ltr., steering guidance was improved, differentials
were reinforced, and the body was slightly enlarged, providing more space for
the somewhat larger driver and passenger.
This Series 2 was built as a left-hand drive in 1959 and was
driven in Belgium from 1998 to 2022. There, the LAND ROVER was acquired and
restored "Frame-Off" with great effort and expert knowledge. The
technology such as engine, gearbox, and differential were thoroughly
overhauled. The body was separated from the frame, elaborately repaired, and
newly painted with the existing original doors. The fits of the bodywork, as
well as the closing of the doors, are perfect. The windshield frame, the hood
frame, and the bumper were newly galvanised. For safety reasons, the frame was
replaced with a new correct Series 2 frame, galvanised, and painted black with
special paint. Original refurbished windshield wiper motors and a Smith
footwell heater were installed. The seat cushions are new in correct
"Elephant-Hide" vinyl material.
