RED CROSS PARTNERSHIP

A HUMANITARIAN CHARITY PARTNERSHIP SINCE 1954

A Land Rover Series IIA Marshall Ambulance, which had previously been operated by the British Red Cross and is in the middle of a meticulous restoration by Land Rover Classic, made its first public appearance at Goodwood Revival. It featured as part of the celebration of Defender’s 70th anniversary of working with the British Red Cross and was on show alongside its modern counterpart – a Defender 130 Emergency Response vehicle from the then-current British Red Cross fleet.

Sourcing classic Jaguars and Land Rovers from all over the world before bringing them home to where they were born, our Works Legends programme sees a distinct selection of original, collectible vehicles, returned to our state-of-the-art purpose-built Classic Works facility, for vehicle servicing and preparation.

Every classic vehicle undergoes a meticulous full day Health Check performed by our team of specialist service technicians, before it’s deemed eligible to be a certified pre-owned. Along with a lifetime of history, every vehicle benefits from a 12-month unlimited mileage warranty.

CLASSIC DEFENDER WORKS V8 ISLAY EDITION

EXCLUSIVELY YOURS

Islay Edition is limited to just 30 unique examples, with 17 available as a 90 short wheelbase and 13 as a seven-seat 110 wheelbase respectively. Each vehicle is a meticulously restored and rebuilt Classic Defender that has been expertly sourced by Land Rover Classic specialists.

RECOGNISING 70 YEARS OF GLOBAL IMPACT

For 70 years, Defender has supported the British Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement to help vulnerable communities in over 50 countries, impacting the lives of over two million people.

QUEEN'S DEFENDER ON ACTIVE SERVICE

Red Cross crews are on active service with Defender in North Wales, helping support people in difficult-to-reach communities such as the Snowdonia mountains, Lleyn Peninsula and Isle of Anglesey.

Their converted Defender 130 was donated to the British Red Cross by JLR to commemorate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

THE WORDS THAT CHANGED THE WORLD

Reminders of Land Rover’s legacy are judiciously placed around the Islay Edition’s cabin. This includes a plaque adjacent to the gearshift that tells the story of how the Land Rover name was born.

DISTILLED DETAILS

Reinforcing the link back to Islay Edition’s Hebridean heritage, the removable console tray – complete with leather tabs – features the oak of whisky barrels sourced from the local Kilchoman Distillery. Spencer Wilks’ granddaughter Kathy Wills established the distillery with her husband, Anthony, in 2005.

Within each tray, a unique wooden disc replicating the end of a whisky barrel showcases the vehicle as one of 30 limited edition examples marking 75 years of Land Rover.

Completing the meticulous interior story, oak wood veneer detailing extends to the rear loadspace floor and clock on the centre console.
